A Bit About Colours of Earth

The bogs, rivers, mountains, and shorelines are more than preservers of old myths, bones, and memories. They are energy banks and time sponges, and what is held within them seeks release.

― Manchán Magan, Listen to the Land Speak

The mission here at Colours of Earth seeks to reduce the degree of separation between us and the planet we share. Often unaware of its happening, many of us will feel the masked unearthing pull of modern society, away from our roots and towards an industry reliant future. Founded by Irish born artist David Mahon, CoE seeks to bridge this gap, bringing a new awareness to the art we chose to practice and surround ourselves with.

The artwork here serves as a cheery and forward facing reminder that beneath our very feet, and growing all around us, we can find all the ingredients we need for a whole new world of colour. Natural pigments were the very genesis of visual story telling, a culture our species has developed and celebrated over many thousands of years. Re-earthing ourselves through the preservation of this art is at the heart of natural painting, and among the many reasons we can hope to smile upon releasing these methods and colours back into the world.
